My first memory of dabbling in art was in kindergarten. Construction paper and Crayola colored pencils were my medium and flowers were my focus. I wish I had some of those first drawings because my beginning was rough and far from realistic. All were flat with the same number of petals each and some green stems/leaves. I was not by any means a great artist but within a short amount of time, I was able to paint & draw realistic roses and complicated flora. Passion + Practice was the secret.
My work gets close to the creatures and sceneries that are not always accessible. The process of painting helps me appreciate the beauty of the world and the mastermind behind it all. It’s amazing how simply layering blobs of paint can create a realistic image. Mastering this has been the focus of my 20 years of painting/drawing. Nature and wildlife provide so many opportunities to practice this.
I am now an aspiring doctor and reside in Virginia. Art has remained a part of my life since my kindergarten days. As a self-taught realism artist, I have spent years working in acrylics, intense, and graphite. I have loved every minute of the journey! Painting and drawing have been my joy and stress outlet. Since I have gained so much from this journey, I want to share everything I have gleaned from my past experiences.
